The Boettcher Family at Boyne Mountain
It was a chilly winter's day in December when we met up with the Boettcher Family at Boyne Mountain. We decided to take advantage of the opportunity to ski some slopes we don't get to as often (our home mountain is Crystal - Rah's boyfriend, Don, works there). We woke up early & wouldn't you know it - Northern Michigan got a decent amount of fresh powder overnight. We were on the slopes in the morning and then met up with this enthusiastic & up-for-anything family of 26 in the afternoon. We got some photos outside, but since it was so chilly, we decided to do the second half of the session inside their cozy condo. We enjoyed getting to know each of these lovely people, and we're so grateful that Chris McKillip helped arrange this successful session. We had a couple of coincidences with this session, too! While arranging boots inside the condo, Ethan picked up an incredibly unique and beautiful pair of boots. He asked the owner where she got them to which she replied "Waxwing Vintage" which is Rah's sister's store in downtown Traverse City at The State Street Marketplace. Rah also reunited with a familliar face, Brian Boettcher, who she hadn't seen in many years! Turns out, a teacher from when Ethan was in high school at West was also a part of this family - SMALL WORLD! This is another one of those situations where I can't believe we get to do what we do for a living: - Go ski, then make friends & take photos. Does it get any better?
