Doug & Judy Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage in 2018!

A lot of things can happen in a year. Job changes, moving homes, moving towns...but most of us have familiar comforts that we hold onto during the big life changes. For Doug and Judy, that comfort is found in each other. A lifetime of adventures, joys, triumphs, trials & tribulations have shaped a 50 year marriage for the VanDykes. When they contacted us to help them document this monumental occasion, we knew this was going to be an extremely special project. This Summer, Doug & Judy will welcome their friends and family from all over the country to join them at their home, Rediscovery North on North Lake Leelanau. As Doug says - "This will be the first, last and only time that something like this is going to happen!" so the importance of getting this right is top priority. Over the last 10 months or so, we have been carefully planning the details of this June 30th Family Reunion/50th Wedding Anniversary extravaganza, part of which includes a mini session to have updated photos for Doug & Judy's party invitations. As photographers in Northern Michigan, it is our mission to show beauty all over our region, not only in our breathtaking landscapes, but also in our amazing inhabitants. We arrived at their stunning home nestled quietly away on the quiet end of the lake and set up our studio in their living room. We created some studio style portraits for Doug & Judy, both on a gray backdrop and also on the hearth of their fireplace. After talking about how significant their home is to them, we decided to create a few photos right outside of their house. We look forward to submitting these photos to announce Doug & Judy's 50th Anniversary in The Leelanau Enterprise on their behalf.
